CMS-Floater design

The CMS-floater is based on the principal of having a relatively slim pipe section standing vertical in the water column, with ballast in the lower part to maintain necessary stability.

The slim deep draft design makes it less affected by wind, wave, and currents. And are therefore well suited for typical north sea environment.

The CMS-design can be manufactured from concrete or steel.

The concrete construction relies upon a proven continuous manufacturing process called Slipforming.

OceanGrid’s CMS mooring system provides the industry’s smallest deep ocean seabed footprint.  This facilitates  superior coexistence with marine life and other commercial interests, when compared to conventional mooring technologies.

The CMS mooring system significantly reduces dynamic motion and accelerations which in turn enables a simplification of the inter array cable configuration. This extends the cable’s lifetime at a lower cost.
